Basketball Ministry
Our Basketball ministry to the youth in Siem Reap started last June 2023.
In previous years, soccer has been the most prevalent sport in Cambodia; only foreigners would be seen playing basketball. Our pastor and most men in IBCSR
have loved playing basketball and would do so as a hobby and form of exercise. The Lord allowed us to have a half court on the church property where we held fellowships and played basketball regularly.
When the pandemic hit, more young people got interested in sports and through the years, the love for basketball became common in Cambodians and they seek to improve in this sport.
Because our church has a half-court where people can come and play, and young Cambodians started coming and playing as well. The Lord opened an opportunity to start another ministry
through teaching basketball to young people. We praise the Lord for using Brother Joel Madlang-awa II to start this ministry last year (2023).
We started with teaching a handful of young men to now teaching 2 teams of 12 young people. The only thing we ask of these young people is for them to attend our church services, Bible studies, and other fellowships.
By God's grace, most of them are faithfully attending our Sunday service and Bible studies. They also help out and attend whenever there are church activities.
Please pray that the Lord will continue to use this ministry to reach more Cambodians for Christ.
Please pray for the salvation of each and every one of the precious lost souls that we are ministering to through this particular ministry.
